Our Mission

Owning Education is bringing like minded people together to share ideas and collaborate on changing the mentality of education in our government, schools and students.

We hope to create a forum for discussing the impact of projects in schools that have allowed students to go beyond the simple exams factory we have at the moment.

Who we are

Martin Ainscough – The Idealist

Martin is the Director of Creative Learning at Fred Longworth High School where he has responsibility for Arts education and Careers information advice & guidance. He is also a non-executive Director and Associate of Musical Futures and has delivered training around creative learning internationally. He has a strong belief in the power of independent student-led learning and through Musical Futures has seen first hand how young people can surprise us when we allow them ownership of their own learning and creative development.

Jon Kime – The Artist

Jon Kime is head of a highly successful Art & Design department delivering Art, Photography and Graphic Design at KS3 and KS4. He designs and delivers annual workshops to ITT students from MMU on teaching digital art and photography in the classroom. An advocate of the Slow Education philosophy Jon believes in taking the time to study and learn in depth to encourage patience and autonomy in the classroom.

Pauric McKeown – The Realist

Pauric McKeown is Head of an innovative Computer Science department delivering challenging engaging KS3 and KS4 media, Computer Science and Business.  He delivers workshops for Primary colleagues and Trainees on the teaching of Computer Science in the classroom.  A Student of Education Pauric believes in delivering interesting and enthusiastic education though project based learning, problem solving and independence.
